It seems that every time a Trump rally is held, either myself or one of my colleagues has to write a headline announcing that rabid leftists have once again engaged in political violence. In fact, it’s almost like we can write the article before the event even happens and predict exactly what happens.
Saturday’s rally in Washington, D.C. was no different. Thousands of Trump supporters converged on the nation’s capital to protest the result of the presidential election for the second time. They rallied in front of the White House and Justice Department to show their support for the president only days before the electoral college is expected to declare former Vice President Joe Biden the winner of the election.
It didn’t take long for the Antifa folks to show up and start instigating violence. Apparently, when you know the left-wing activists in the corporate press will provide cover for you, it’s easier to brazenly assault your political opposition.
The New York Post reported that operatives dressed in all black attacked participants. They wrote:
“Violence erupted on the streets of Washington, DC, Saturday as thousands of President Trump’s most die-hard supporters swelled the nation’s capital for a second round of protests against the results of the presidential election.
One person was reportedly stabbed after a black-clad pedestrian rushed a group of men wearing helmets and gas masks and threw a punch. The men were making their way to Freedom Plaza, where a rally dubbed the Million MAGA March had gathered. A video of the clash showed one man in Proud Boys regalia alongside the helmeted group.”
The Blaze reported that violence took place even on the day before the rally. “While walking through Black Lives Matter Plaza, Trump supporters were harassed and threatened by Antifa and BLM members. Antifa allegedly maced a Trump supporter in the face,” they wrote.
“Then just before midnight, several brawls erupted between a reported coalition of Antifa with BLM versus pro-Trump groups, including Proud Boys, according to investigative reporter Drew Hernandez. Members of the Proud Boys could be heard chanting: “F*** Antifa!” There were reportedly several injuries and arrests because of the fighting.”
Several speakers addressed crowds at the rally. Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson promised that the fight over the election isn’t over. “This isn’t over, this is just the beginning,” she intoned. “We knew that both Republicans and Democrats were against we the people. We are the cavalry. No one’s coming for us.”
Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, President Trump’s former National Security Adviser, also spoke at the event. “We are in a crucible moment in the United States of America,” he said.“The courts do not decide who the next President of the United States will be.”
“We’re in a spiritual battle for the heart and soul of this country,” Flynn added. “We will win.”
Five people were arrested during the violence.
President Trump made a short appearance, flying in his helicopter over the rally. The Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Texas seeking to challenge the result of the presidential election in four battleground states. Trump slammed the decision, saying that the court “let us down.”
